This photography brings back memories to me.
It goes back to my first trip to Burma in 2001 (one month after 9-11…), my second trip to Asia.
I was travelling with an old Olympus Mju, a stunning camera.
Very simple (just point and shoot !) and robust (it survived a few tropic rains and had its fair share of shocks) but still manage to deliver great argentic pictures.
One of my previous post (Crossing the Street in Hanoi) had also been taken with it.
Back to this picture : it was the end of the afternoon (around 5PM i guess) and we were walking back from a temple in the backcountry of Mandalay.
The light was spectacular but i felt at that time this camera was not able to capture it.
So i just took a shot, hoping nothing.
I was really impressed a few months later when i saw the results : i love the shadows and the overall scenery.

The light and tonal range you captured here is incredible. You found a great composition here too, especially considering you thought it was just a throw-away shot.
I’ve been looking for a 35mm point and shoot, might have to check this one out.

Really beautiful shot here. The colours, the light, the horse drawn cart (it looks like) further down the road and my favourite part: The person closest to us with his arms behind his back admiring the view
